PlanSafe can work with all types of Learning Management Systems (LMS). If your LMS can use SCORM (Sharable Content Object Reference Model) packages for training, it's likely that you will be able to use this integration.
How it works
Your account manager will provide you with a SCORM package in one of our supported versions that you can load into your organisation's LMS on request. Once this package has been loaded in and set up in a course, it is ready to be used by learners.
When learners launch the course as part of their training requirements, the LMS will open PlanSafe in a new window without the need for a PlanSafe account. From there, the learner will receive the full PlanSafe experience up until they close the window or click the log out button, at which point all information about the learner's assessments will be communicated back to the LMS and the learner will be returned to the LMS.
Requirements
There are a few requirements your learning environment needs to meet in order to effectively utilise this integration:
- Your organisation's LMS must support SCORM version 1.2 or 2004.
- Browsers used to access the training must allow third-party cookies in order for the integration to properly function.
- Your LMS must be able to communicate learner names as outlined in the standards for each version.
FAQ
How does reporting work?
PlanSafe will report assessment completion progress back to the LMS in with a complete/incomplete status for the entirety of their training (eg if the learner is required to complete 2 courses as part of their training, but only completes one, the LMS will be told that their training is 50% complete).
Due to the limitations of what is supported by the SCORM standard and LMS', the course completion is the only information that is provided back to the LMS. If you wish to report on more data for compliance reasons (e.g. the location, role, type of training completed, etc.), it is recommended you run those reports in PlanSafe.
Are mobile devices supported?
While we recommend using a desktop computer or laptop for the optimal training experience, all modern mobile and tablet devices are supported by this integration.
Can people still access PlanSafe normally?
Yes. We recognise in many organisations that only permanent employees are enrolled into courses in an LMS, with contractors and visitors rarely being catered to by this solution. As such, all occupants who are not on the organisation's LMS are still able to access PlanSafe through the normal login mechanisms. If you want LMS-only access, this is also possible.
