To begin with adding or editing navigations, you will need to ensure you are in the Navigations menu under Setup. Once you're in the right menu, the screen should look like the below:
The navigations in PlanSafe work off a hierarchy. Each navigation can have one or more child navigations nested underneath it. Think of it as a folder on your computer, with more folders in it.
To edit an existing navigation, you can double click on the desired navigation item or select it and press the Edit Selected button on the bottom toolbar.
To add a new navigation, you press the Add button on the bottom toolbar.
When you're adding or editing a navigation, you will have the following options:
- Display Name - This is the name of the navigation that the learners will see when conducting their training. We recommend using something logical and easy to identify when setting the Display Names on navigations.
- Default Content - This determine what content the navigation will show.
- The Create new content for this navigation button will create a blank content page for you when you're adding a navigation that you can add content in to as required.
- The Go to edit the content after saving this page button will take you to your newly created blank content after you save the new navigation.
- If the content is existing, leave both of these options unchecked and select the existing content you want to use for this navigation from the dropdown list.
- Internal/Admin Name - This will add a secondary name for the navigation when managing content in the Administrator section of PlanSafe. This name is not visible to learners.
- Assistive Video - You can use this dropdown to select which Auslan video is available when looking at the content on that navigation.
- Control to load - This determines what sort of content is displayed for this navigation. There are only a few that you need to worry about:
- Information Page - This is the most common type of control used on navigations. Use this option whenever you want to have a normal content page displaying text, images, etc.
- Interactive Plans - Use this control when you are wanting to display the interactive plans on the navigation.
- Warden Page - Use this control when you are wanting to display ECO member information from the Premises Information on your content page.
- Assessment with custom settings - Use this control when you're wanting your new navigation to be an assessment.
- Target - This should always be set to Panel Item.
- Display Banner - Displays a coloured banner at the top of the page. Turn off if you do not want to have a banner in your content.
- Navigation Icon - The icon for your navigation. This will also show as part of the banner if turned on. You can select one of the default icons available in the stock library, or upload your own.
