In this tutorial, we'll guide you through the process of publishing and exporting your evacuation diagrams using PlanStudio. Publishing is the final step to share your diagrams with clients or stakeholders. We'll cover different publishing options, including watermarked signs, print previews, and bulk publishing.
Before you begin, make sure you have configured your evacuation diagrams as needed.
Accessing the Publishing Options
In the Diagram Preview toolbar, locate and click on the final option for publishing and exporting your diagrams.
Note: publishing options may vary based on your partnership level and permissions. Depending on your access, you may have options to publish watermarked signs, final diagrams, purchase pre-paid credits, or no publishing options at all.
Using the Publishing Menu
Print Preview
Before finalizing any publications, always click the "Print Preview" button. This step helps ensure that your final PDF will appear as intended. Occasionally, during the PDF conversion process, text sizes and minor changes can occur.
Published Watermarked Signs
We recommend using this option before any final publications. Watermarked diagrams include a draft watermark, making them ideal for client approval. Published watermarked signs are free and can be published multiple times.
Final Publishing
Once you are satisfied with your watermarked signs and print preview, proceed with a final publish. This will generate high-quality, fully editable SVG files of your evacuation diagrams. You can view and save these diagrams as PDFs from this point.
Current Sign Details
The Current Sign details will display the"
- Version, Indicating how many time this sign has been published
- Published By, to Show which user was responsible for the most recent publish
- Published with Watermark, to indicate whether this was a Draft or Final Publish.
- Publish Date, to show when the last publish occurred
- Expiry Date, to show when this sign will be due for review..
Bulk Publishing
In addition to publishing each sign individually from the sign preview menu, you can also use the "Diagrams" tab in the campus page of the plan manager.
Here, you have the option to select all your signs, either for the entire campus or per building and per level. This allows you to publish multiple signs at once and save them into a single file. However, be aware that publishing large jobs in a single file may result in a file too large to email and may increase the time it takes to publish and download the file.
Error Detection
PlanStudio automatically detects common errors on your diagrams before publishing. Common errors may include missing building addresses or other required information on your template and missing building footprints on site plans.
If you encounter one of these errors, correct the missing information and attempt the publish again.
